The power of game consoles and gaming computers is an interesting subject to discuss. Someone may say – the more powerful they are the better experience we get. Others may think – we had cool experience even on our current devices, so why should we pay for a new one every time when manufacturers make such things?
Now we have a reason to think about this again - Microsoft has finished their work on the Project Scorpio and has presented “the world’s most powerful game console” – Xbox One X. It will be available only from November 7, 2017, by the price of $499 in the USA.
Numbers in the technical specifications
Every new Xbox or PlayStation is not just a beautiful box - also technologies inside of it. For gamers, they may seem like simple numbers in specification lists. And the logic here is also simple – the bigger numbers, the better.
From this point of view, Xbox One X is quite OK:
- CPU (processor) - 8-core Custom AMD CPU, 2.3GHz;
- GPU (graphics) - Integrated AMD graphics with 6 teraflops of performance;
- RAM (Random-access memory) - 12GB GDDR5;
- Internal storage - 1TB HDD;
- Support of 4K and HDR in games in videos.
But in fact, these numbers make no sense for most of the gamers, if we will not compare them with specifications of other devices.
PlayStation 4 Pro, the direct competitor of Xbox One X, has:
- CPU (processor) - 8-core x86-64 AMD “Jaguar”, 2.1GHz;
- GPU (graphics) - Integrated AMD Polaris graphics with 4.2 teraflops of performance;
- RAM (Random-access memory) - 8GB GDDR5;
- Internal storage - 1TB HDD;
- Support of 4K and HDR in games in videos.
So, Xbox One X has a bit faster processor, better graphics, +50% of RAM.
It’s all about games!
All those numbers in the technical specifications are nothing without games. We will feel them in practice only by exploring virtual worlds, driving virtual cars, battling virtual opponents…
Games for Xbox One X will be the same as for Xbox One S. And most of them are available also for PS4 Pro. The difference is in the optimization of them for the new console – future owners of Xbox One X should look for “X optimized” editions of games to feel all the advantages of their most powerful game console. Among them, we can see Forza Motorsport 7, Super Lucky's Tale, Black Desert, Assassin's Creed Origins, Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare.
So, now you know the facts about Xbox One X and can make your own decision – to buy or not to buy. The main thing here is in feeling yourself satisfied!
