A raccoon plays an app, making holes in the virtual world that swallow everything around, including skyscrapers and mountains. Those holes “really” appear in the world of that raccoon, so players control him playing his app and thus helping him to destroy the whole town. Still, the raccoon is not a bad guy. He just wants to have fun, and play with quadcopters, and … Yep, the game story is quite weird, with specific humour.
Donut County is a fun little game, for quite a relaxing spare time. It’s available for PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS devices. Here is a review of this interesting part of the gaming culture.

A nice idea, an amazing trailer
I noticed this game even before its release in 2018, after watching a trailer. Those cute raccoons and colourful graphics were quite catchy for me.
The idea is simple – you place holes and make things fall into them. The cartoonish world… OK, probably I just like such style (it’s similar to Untitled Goose Game or Wattam).
Learn to enjoy simplicity
I bought the game soon after the release and gave it a try. The promises from the trailer were all there, and still, Donut County shifted to my backlog after the first evening. It’s not like it was bad or something. Probably, you should be in a mood for it.
The game is super simple. You read many dialogues and clear up locations with those swallowing holes. It seems like the puzzles have been made to bring a smile, not to be challenging. And that’s a good thing after all.
In a year, I returned to Donut County. Completing it was a nice experience – even with a boss fight at the end. Probably, the game could have a bit more actual playing levels and less chatting. Also, a kind of after-game with new absurd levels would be great. Still, it’s an interesting (very short) game if you like this kind of simplicity.
To play Donut County, buy the game for your system (it’s often on sales):
